Good morning.
Welcome to Down to Brass Tacks. I'm Dr. Christina Hines, your moderator for today's program. Today's producer is Etienne Fraser, and you can reach us at 434-1790 for your calls, 266-4862 for your WhatsApp messages and for your WhatsApp calls. Oh my gosh, have you all seen the front page of today's paper? Not the West Indies part, West Indies on T20 winning streak, although that's good too, if you know. so rare that we're on any kind of streak besides the one that I don't want to talk about. So that's lovely as well. But what I'm talking about is the CDB boss indicating that he's completely shaken by Melissa's destruction and that there's a painful lack of resilience in the region. This is following his visit to Jamaica. And it really is quite tragic to see what has happened in Jamaica, a category 5 hurricane is obviously no joke. The loss of life, industry, I know farming is a big thing in that part of a significant part of people's lives in that part of the country and Christmas is coming. So what kind of Christmas are the people of Jamaica going to have? And then we hear that there are people who are engaging in fraud!
Who are those who want to give and assist with what is happening in Jamaica have to be very careful with who they give through, especially if they're using some of these online channels. There are some initiatives in Barbados, so I really would encourage people to do what you can to assist those in Jamaica.
